This event intends to engage players, parents, partners, coaches, sports leaders and other stakeholders in important conversations around the growth of inclusion and acceptance in hockey. The event will be broken down into two parts; a round table, solutions-based session to discuss “the good, the bad, the hard” in making hockey a better, more diverse, and safer space, followed by open discussion with attendees, community leaders and members of the press.
By inviting individuals to a facilitated, round table in a safe space to speak freely and share, the desired outcome of the morning session is data capture and production of a scalable digital road map on inclusion in hockey. This will be presented at the January 2023 CI Summit in Toronto and made available for youth hockey leagues throughout North America. This data will be used year over year as a benchmark to evaluate progress, what’s working, what isn’t and hold us accountable in changing the game. The afternoon portion which is open to the public includes a keynote and panel discussion identifying issues/needs and creating actionable steps to make hockey more inclusive, followed by an opportunity to network and meet other like-minded individuals creating change.
